🐾 Lily’s Corner: From Wild Heart to Forever Home 🐾
Two years ago, in the heart of Manitoba, a tiny pup just two weeks old was found on a reservation—alone, frightened, and in desperate need of help. At first, they thought she was a domestic dog, but as time went on, it became clear that she was something truly special: a Dixie Dingo, a rare type of wild dog with a courageous spirit and the softest eyes I’d ever seen.
When she was rescued, Lily—my beautiful girl—had toxins in her system and required emergency surgery to survive. But Lily is a fighter. Against all odds, she pulled through, thanks to the incredible team at Ziggy’s Rescue in Port Alberni. That’s where our paths crossed.
I fell in love with her instantly.
She was brought to British Columbia by Ziggy’s, and in June 2023, she officially became part of my family. Since then, she’s filled my life with joy, adventure, and a whole lot of love. But Lily’s journey also inspired something bigger in me—a calling to give back.
For a year and a half, I volunteered with Ziggy’s, photographing to help other rescue dogs find their forever homes. Even after they relocated to Saskatchewan, I continued my work with local rescue organizations.
Now, every holiday season, Lily and I join Pets with Santa at Bosley’s, using my photography to raise money and awareness for the amazing animals still searching for their people. It’s my way of honouring Lily’s story—and helping others write their own.
Lily reminds me every day that even the wildest hearts can find a place to call home.
